Starting tomorrow, Deer Valley Resort hosts the Fox US Open of Mountain Biking, the final round of the 2026 Monster Energy Pro Downhill Series and the closest thing American downhill racing has to a national championship. It marks the first time elite professional downhill racing has returned to Park City in nearly two decades, and Deer Valley is anticipating an estimated 10,000 spectators across three days of competition on Bald Eagle Mountain.
A Weekend Built Around Racing
The event runs September 11 through 13 and packs a full weekend of competition into Deer Valley's newly expanded bike terrain. Friday opens with Pro Practice and Seeding on the downhill course, followed by Best Whip, a big air jump competition at the Silver Lake area. Saturday brings Amateur Practice and Seeding in the morning before the weekend's centerpiece: Pro Downhill Finals from 2 to 5 p.m., where the field of professional riders will battle it out for the US Open Champion title on one of the most demanding downhill tracks in the country. Awards follow immediately at the Snow Park base area. Sunday closes things out with Amateur Finals and a final round of awards.
The series itself is no small circuit. The 2026 Monster Energy Pro Downhill Series presented by Continental has run through Ride Rock Creek in North Carolina, Mountain Creek Bike Park in New Jersey, Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah, and Big Bear Lake in California, pulling together an international field of professional and amateur riders all season before finishing at Deer Valley.
Why Deer Valley, Why Now
Deer Valley has not hosted professional downhill racing at this level since a Park City rider competed on the same trail system back in 2007. The move to bring the Fox US Open here came after Solitude Mountain Resort drew a strong crowd as a series stop in 2025, and it lands at a moment when Deer Valley has been expanding its own downhill terrain and lift access as part of its broader resort growth. Bringing a national championship back to the mountain gives the resort a chance to put its trail system, bike park, and rider amenities in front of a national mountain biking audience.
Spectators can take in the racing for free from the Snow Park base area or purchase a Pro Downhill Course Scenic Ride ticket for closer access to the course itself, and the anticipated turnout makes clear that Park City's appetite for mountain biking extends well beyond its famous singletrack network.
